A Tree and a Hiccup

A Tree and a Hiccup

(a thought about life)

From a distance,
I looked in amazement at its beauty , its size and shape, how strong it is to have weathered the Nebraska storms over those many years..How old is it?, I wondered….
I walked closer….
I put my arms around it trunk……….. or a tiny portion of its girth. My mind wandered further. To help a tree stand tall and strong, Its roots grow down in order to mirror the above ground growth that my eyes can see. How deep do they grow? How tall is this tree?
I leaned back to look. I cannot see the top…
I began my Climb.
Reaching for the next higher limb, I pulled my myself up… while thinking; This was another phase in its growth, its life.I climbed and climbed, until I reached the top. I am here! I have reached the top! I was too busy to count the distance. It was no longer necessary to me.The struggle was merely a labor of love and learning. I made it to the top!

Now, how do I let myself back down.……ooops, a Hiccup……

Just as in life, make the journey enjoyable. There will be questions. There will be fears and struggles. It helps to include a plan. Before embarking on a journey…
Look for a soft spot to land.

Mallard Duck

We tend to label things in nature with “Exotic”, “Rare”, “Endangered” or Common. Since the Mallard is a duck that we see more often , accustomed to people ….. it is likely to be at more close distance.

But Common? I would think anything but that. The male has a bright emerald green head. It is strong and can fly at great distances when migrating. This is a female that has a beauty all of it’s own.
